Technologies for Digital communities and the `à l’envers` potential

This blog is part of a series focused on `Digital communities`. These are `writings for the purpose of connecting currently unrelated dots`. These blogs are also intended to bring increased awareness on the significance of Intention in designing technologies.

Social interactions and the ways we organize and collaborate are evolving, sometimes very slowly and sometimes changes happen abruptly. We are in the early phases of our cyborg evolution and I am interested in how we use technology to design the Social and Governance frameworks we want. Naturally, technology implementations with a certain intention can take a life of their own and in some cases, they can and do result in unintended social impact and governance mechanisms that are not fair or inclusive or reflect our evolving values. The Social Network documentary highlights this clearly.

We are in the very early phases of challenging the status quo and designing tech enablers so that `Digital communities can play a very different role and hold accountable institutions, corporations, and states rather than the other way around`. This concept is very powerful and could become a major inflection point in the Sapiens history and our evolution into the Aquarius age.
